The Kmart brand transformation, both in-store and online, was an effort to make shopping fun again. One of the classic Kmart taglines, “Attention Kmart Shoppers,” was brought back to remind shoppers how fun it was to shop at Kmart.

My contributions included design improvements to in-store signage and social media campaigns as well as UX enhancements to both the digital and mobile experience. I was also responsible for the reintroduction of geo-targeted mobile offers, Freebie Saturdays, and the iconic Bluelight Special.

The revival of the Bluelight Special was inspired by months of research, which revealed Kmart shoppers’ positive remembrance of the sales tactic while shopping with their family throughout childhood.
